On June 8-11, 2023 the Pomeranian Regional Tourist Organization in cooperation with the Foreign Center of the Polish Tourist Organization in Chicago organized a press trip for the American journalist Christine van Blokland, the author of the Curious Traveler program, who came to Gdańsk with a 3-person TV crew.
The journalist, after visiting Krakow and Warsaw, visited Gdańsk to prepare material about the rich history of the city, its architecture, interesting corners and the most important attractions. Christine, thanks to the courtesy of partners and members of PROT, visited: the European Solidarity Centre, the branches of the Gdańsk Museum - the Amber Museum, the Main Town Hall and the former Foregate Complex, as well as St. Mary's Basilica and Oliwa with the Archcathedral and the Adam Mickiewicz Oliwa Park. The visit was made even more pleasant by a cruise on the Galeon Lew to the Westerplatte Peninsula.
Curious Traveler enjoys great popularity in the US and is broadcast on virtually all public television channels (PBS, CreateTVChannel, Passport PBS) and on international streaming services: Amazon Prime Video, Viajar (Spain), Little Dot Studios (UK), Voice of America (Middle East), SBS Australia, GoTraveler (worldwide). In addition, it is available on airlines: American Airlines, EVA Air, Qatar, FinnAir, Air Canada and on cruise lines: Oceania Cruises, AMAWaterways, SpaFax.
The average viewership for the first broadcast is 500,000-650,000 viewers per episode per week (episodes repeat for over 5 years). The program is aimed at affluent, educated recipients aged 35+, who are estimated to make 3 international trips a year.
