European NIGHT of MUSEUMS in Gdansk, Gdynia & Sopot

Gdansk

This is a unique night during which you can visit museums, galleries, libraries, theatres, cultural centers, and art academies free of charge or for a symbolic 1PLN. Thirty institutions have joined the action in Gdańsk, where, apart from permanent exhibitions, specially prepared programs await - walks, workshops, performances, as well as educational games and activities for the youngest. This year, a competition for the most active visitors was also launched. Access and return from sightseeing will be facilitated by occasional, free public transport.

Gdynia's museums guarantee that no one will fall asleep on this special night - from Saturday to Sunday, from 13 to 14 May, the next edition of the Night of Museums. The institutions are preparing unique attractions, because the program will include a game with the queen of hearts, textile madness, ambient love or singing Eurovision hits together. Amber Museum in Gdansk

Tomorrow, we start our journey from the Amber Museum - one of the six branches of the Gdańsk Museum that participate in the Night of Museums - you can see the largest amber collection in the world. On two floors, you can see resin in its various varieties - from nuggets with inclusions from 40 million years ago, through amber forest, to contemporary jewelry designs. It is also here that the world's largest amber is found, which set a new Guinness World Record last year. The attraction of this year's Night of Museums will be the Ark of the Covenant made of amber, which can be admired in the entrance hall.
