The Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival is accompanied by incredible emotions and the names of legendary documentary creators such as Werner Herzog, Erik Gandini, and Laura Poitras, who won an Oscar in 2015 for her film "Citizenfour". Believing that cinema has a powerful effect, Millennium Docs Against Gravity is the only festival in Europe that takes place simultaneously in eight different cities, including Gdynia. The festival focuses on values such as mindfulness and sensitivity towards the people around us. This year's festival slogan "Don't be indifferent" refers to the words of Marian Turski, which also became the slogan for the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.
Millennium Docs Against Gravity is the only film festival in Europe that takes place simultaneously in eight different cities, including Gdynia. It is an event that goes against gravity, meaning that even in difficult circumstances, it moves forward and still believes that cinema has a powerful effect. The festival pays special attention to popularizing film culture among people who have limited access to it, which is why it cooperates with around 30 non-governmental organizations, such as WWF Poland, Amnesty International, and the Culture without Barriers Foundation. Thanks to this, the festival can change our reality and educate society.
This year's festival slogan is "Don't be indifferent", which refers to the words of Marian Turski and the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. This slogan reflects the mission of Millennium Docs Against Gravity and the film program presented at the festival for years, which encourages mindfulness and sensitivity towards the problems around us.
After two years of pandemic and the second year of Russian aggression against Ukraine, the festival returns with a stronger program and organizational structure than ever before. Thanks to this, it will have the opportunity to create a film zone for reflection on the condition of the world. Today, the documentary film allows us to redefine the past and describe the future like no other film genre. It is thanks to this that the festival has gained its unique character, which attracts audiences from all over the world.
Don't be indifferent and join the festival community that believes in the power of cinema and may want to change something for the better in their environment after watching a festival film. Tickets are already on sale, and you will definitely find something for yourself in the festival program.
